Kamloops Arts Council announces the Art Exposed “Boring Office Contest”

Spruce up your workspace with original art!
Is the only decoration in your office the cork board or wall clock? Is your board room really a BORED room where staff and clients feel trapped and uninspired? Or is the only “artwork” in your waiting area the NO SMOKING sign on the wall? Worse yet, do you have dated artwork in your workplace that desperately needs replacing? The Kamloops Arts Council (KAC) has a contest for you. Just upload photos of your lackluster workspace to the KAC’s “Boring Office Contest” page on Facebook by 5pm on Monday, Feb. 23 for a chance to win:

  • 1st Prize – 3 months’ free rental of 3 pieces of artwork for your workspace (value of $90 – $270)
  • 2nd Prize – 3 months’ free rental of 2 pieces of artwork for your workspace (value of $60 – $180)
  • 3rd Prize – 3 months’ free rental of 1 piece of artwork for your workspace (value of $30 – $90)

The winning photos will be selected by a panel comprised of Deb McClelland of the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, CFJC-TV’s Susan Edgell, and Kamloops This Week‘s Jessica Wallace. Contest winners will be invited to the Feb. 27 sneak-preview viewing of artwork on display at the Kamloops Arts Council’s Art Exposed Open Exhibition and have the chance to fill out a wish list of their desired art works prior to the show opening.

Now in its 5th year, the Kamloops Arts Council’s Art Exposed is a community-centred visual arts exhibit. Unique to Kamloops, Art Exposed is open; all works by residents of the TNRD in all mediums are accepted in this non-curated exhibition, which runs Feb. 27 to March 8 at the Old Courthouse Cultural Centre.

This year, Art Exposed will launch an Art Rental Pilot Project — interested parties may apply to rent selected works on display during Art Exposed for a 3-month period. A youth gallery will also be featured.
