The Kamloops Arts Council has announced the three jurors
Thompson Nicola Regional District — The 10th Annual Art Exposed event is coming to the Old Courthouse March 6th – 14th. The exhibit is juried by three talented and accomplished artists. This year the art will be judged, awarded, and critiqued by photographer Dave Snider, painter (and more) Debbie Milner-Lively, and ceramic and mixed media artist Christine Beaton. The opening reception will be Friday, March 6th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Christine Beaton:
Christine completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at
Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in 2013. She has earned a Visual Arts Studio Certificate (2010), a Computer Aided Drafting and Design Diploma (1993), and was also a Sessional Instructor and Lab Demonstrator for the drafting program at the University College of the Cariboo. She held a solo exhibition entitled Whim Whams at the Kamloops Art Gallery and participated in group exhibitions at Arnica Artist-Run Centre, TRU Gallery, Art In The Park, George Sawchuk Gallery in Comox and the 5th Parallel Gallery in Regina. The TRU Permanent Art Collection, Fiscal Realities Economists, and private collections in BC hold Christine’s work.
Debbie Milner-Lively:
Debbie graduated from Carson Graham with an Arts Scholarship. She is a self-taught artist that has followed her childhood dream, to be an ‘Artist’. For the past 20 years she has mastered watercolour and acrylics but now works primarily in oils. She is captivated by the process of rendering light and shadow, no matter what the subject. Light warms, reveals and brings joy to paintings. She is passionate about the whole process of creating a painting, from the challenge of design to the manipulation of paint. Her subject matter varies. However, she seems to be drawn to some sort of story element and intimacy in her paintings. Her main desire is to capture what has spoken to her and share it with her viewers!
Dave Snider:
Dave is a photographer living in Kamloops, B.C., specializing in Scenery and Floral photography. Dave has lived in B.C. almost all of his life. Born in Vancouver in 1948 re relocated to Prince George in 1972 and relocated to Kamloops in 1999. Throughout that time
