Benefits of Volunteering with KAC

Volunteering with us can be a great way to gain experience, get involved in the arts community, meet people, and learn something new.

As a volunteer you can play a part in helping us to put the arts, in all its forms, at the heart of our community:

  • At ART in the PARK, we help more artists gain exposure
  • Our programs will bring our community together socially helping to build identity and pride
  • Making the Kamloops area even more attractive to residents, tourists, business and investors
  • And demonstrating the valuable role that the arts plays in building a healthy community.

As a volunteer for Kamloops Arts Council, you really can make a big difference.

VOLUNTEER ROLES

PREP VOLUNTEERSLate June
Help us load up our KAC vehicles from the Old Courthouse Cultural Centre and move
our various boxes, tents and tables. You’re able to do physical labour and lift up to
50lbs. It’s awesome if you have a vehicle to help out!

TRAFFIC CONTROL VOLUNTEERSJuly 1, 5:30am – 9am & 4:30pm –6:00pm
We know it is super early! But it’s probably one of the most important roles we have –
you’re a super hero who isn’t afraid to put yourself in front of moving vehicles! Well,
maybe not that dangerous, but you are tasked with helping our artists find their booth
spot and ensuring that they move their vehicles in and out in a timely but safe manner.
You are able to give clear and concise directions.

SETUP VOLUNTEERSJuly 1, 4am – 8am | minimum 2 hour shifts
Help us make the KAC greeting tents (there’s about 4 of them) look inviting! You will
assist with popping the tents up, placing signage, tables, and table clothes. Physically able
to lift up to 50lbs and plenty of walking required.

“ASK ME” VOLUNTEERSJuly 1, 9:30am – 5pm | minimum 2 hour shifts
You’ll greet visitors and provide information about the event, collecting donations,
encourage people to buy local art and giving directions! This opportunity requires that
you’re friendly, outgoing, cheerful and able to take direction and initiative. Those that
are able may be asked to walk around the park for vendor check-ins or running errands.
PACK-UP VOLUNTEERSJuly 1, 4:30pm – 7pm
Assist with packing up the KAC’s tents, various tables, remaining brochures and
decorations. This is physical labour and you will be required to lift up to 50lbs.
