Kamloops Arts Council

Artists Support Fund

For every dollar you donate, KAC will match dollar for dollar to a local artist currently in need to a max of $3250.
Donation and application period starting April 1 to April 7.

Multiply the impact of your donation!

From April 1 to April 7, 2020, every donation made through this link will double in value.  Kamloops Arts Council will match every dollar donated and will fund a local artist in immediate need. Maximum matching value is $3250 for a total of $6500 that we will provide to local artists in immediate need of finances.

The negative impact of COVID-19 on the arts is apparent.  Events, performances and exhibits have been postponed or have been cancelled. Artists are unable to perform, provide lessons, or sell their creations.  People employed in the arts have been laid off and arts businesses have had to close their doors.  This has directly impacted the way many artists in our community earn revenue.

Every year the Kamloops Arts Council provides $4500 in Scholarships and Grants to artists to assist them with their development in excelling in the arts.  This year we have decided to do things a bit differently.  We are hearing a plea for help from those in need of financial assistance now to help them get through this difficult time.  Help might be coming from other sources in the future, but we know they need help now just to get by. To purchase groceries, medication, pay essential bills.  So in these unprecedented times, we have made the decision that we will be forgoing our grant program this year to instead provide immediate financial assistance to artists most affected by COVID-19.  Our Scholarship program will not be impacted and will go ahead as normal.

How can you help? Between April 1-April 7, 2020, every donation you make to the Kamloops Arts Council will be matched to a maximum contribution of $3250 and these funds will go directly to local artists in need.  Do you know an artist that is currently facing financial hardship due to COVID-19? Please make them aware of this fund and encourage them to apply no later than April 7, 2020 at 5pm.

A full report will be provided to the public on the number of applications and the number of artists we were able to assist.  We will not be disclosing the names of applicants or recipients.  Tax receipts are emailed immediately after donation is received.
