Photography - Digital Painting
Maria Davis is an artist, adventurer, and passionate creator. Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Sun Peaks, inspiration is found in every corner of this beautiful place she calls home. As a mother, a wife, and a traveler, Maria’s journey led her to the artistry of digital transformation, creating unique pieces that reflect the soul of Sun Peaks.

Her artistic journey begins with the lens, capturing the essence of Sun Peaks’ natural beauty. Through a process she calls “painterly,” each photograph undergoes a transformation, turning it into a dreamy, flowing interpretation akin to a painting. It’s an instinctual approach guided by her love for nature and the desire to bring the stunning landscapes of Sun Peaks to life in a unique and mesmerizing way.

Maria’s artwork can be experienced throughout Sun Peaks, from the lobby of the Sundance Lodge to the Lone Wolf Gallery. And now, her artwork can be brought into your own space by exploring her online shop. From canvas prints to metal prints, mugs, and hats, each item is a piece of magic ready to find a place in your home, business, or wardrobe.

I have been a resident of Ashcroft for 39 years and have always been an artist in some way or form. I joined the local art club in Ashcroft after I retired and as an active member of the club, most of my pieces have been exhibited, and for sale, at the local art show but I have also texhibited in theArt Exposed show, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also did a few volunteer hours for the show to see what that entailed. I am currently the Secretary of our Club here and try to promote art within our community.
As an artist, most of the subjects of my paintings are animals, although I also have done several portraits of children. If a landscape scene catches my eye, I will also paint it but animals and children are definitely my painting "passion". I paint throughout the year, doing commissioned paintings of people's pets, and dabble in other pieces in between, along with trying out new mediums or skills. Many of my commission clients hear about me through friends, family or colleagues.

Oil and Acrylic
Mostly self taught, I began painting in 2016 and have never looked back. Painting is as important to me as the air I breathe. I must always paint.
As a visual artist, I feel incredibly privileged to live in the beautiful interior of BC. Surrounded by mountains, desert, plateaus, ranch land, grasslands and meadows, and a variety of pristine lakes inspire me constantly. I often will nestle into my lakeside cabin to reboot and refresh my soul, and this always generates a flow of creativity within me.
Wildlife and animals are a special attraction and I am very fond of capturing their essence in my artwork as well.
I normally paint in oil because I enjoy working alla prima (wet in wet) enjoying the buttery flow of the paints and creating textures within the vibrant colours. I also paint in acrylic and will use this medium when time is short.
I welcome commission work and have successfully completed many pet portraits.

Every painting has a piece of my personality in its work. I believe Art enriches and enhances the lives of those who seek beauty and truth.
