Jewellery
Although essentially a jeweller, I consider myself a metalsmith. The techniques of metalsmithing that have evolved for generations form the basis of my work. And what I aim to do with them is to create pieces that hold a meaning as peculiar as the individual that may wear, look or touch them.

My work revolves around two distinct techniques- forging and construction. Along with my love of construction, I am progressing my interest in making modern forms and sculpture by traditional methods such as; raising, repousse and blacksmithing. These pieces range from small intricate constructed jewellery to larger copper hollowware vessels. I am interested in exploring all creative avenues between these points in metal.

The materials I use are primarily malleable metals: silver, gold, copper and steel. However, I like to meet the precious with the non-precious and I also use plastics such as formica and plexiglass. Additionally, I often incorporate semi-precious stones and materials I have found. Cast components are a frequent feature of my work.

Many of my pieces are narrative, where others are simply aesthetic and perhaps more simply classical in style. I would say, in one sense my work is a microscopic study of the world we live in. In another, it is simply part of the world we live in.

The price point of my work that I sell at shows starts at $40 and extends to $500. The majority of what sells is between the $85 - $250 range.

Fluid Art
I have been painting off and on for several years with acrylic and water colours. I decided to try fluid art two years ago and I was hooked. I loved the way the paint flows on the canvas to create unique and one of a kind designs. I have always had the desire to create different pieces of art, using different mediums from paint, wood, jewelry, pencil and charcoal. I love learning new things, I work in a private High School with youth so I learn with them and they teach me to be the best version of myself. I have a soft spot for youth homelessness and A Way Home Kamloops. My deep hope is that I can continue to donate to A Way Home through the sales of my art.

Acrylic prints
I am a forester and have worked in and enjoyed the forests in the province for many decades. Recently, I began taking cuttings from trees that were knocked down during the 2021 wildfires and turned them into print art. The result of this work is a series of acrylic prints from a variety of tree species, showing the inner growth patterns and rings, forming a snapshot of the history of each tree. The response to this work has surprised me but shows that people really want to connect with nature and forests.

Drawing, Painting
My name is Cat. I am a visual artist, musician and dancer. I currently attend Kamloops School of the Arts as a high school student, taking a Visual Arts Major and a Music minor. I learned to play guitar my first year at this school (2022/23) and love it so much. My musical influences are Foo Fighters, Jeff Buckley, Nirvana, The Beatles, among others and I am going to see Metallica in Edmonton in 2024! I am growing my guitar collection and love cool looking acoustic and electric guitars. My dream would be to be in a band with others who share my musical tastes. I also love to draw and paint and hope to earn a BA in Fine Arts in the future and one day become a tattoo artist.
