Teresa Selbee-Baker
Lund, BC
Oil Paint, Acrylic Paint, Photography
Teresa Selbee-Baker is a Canadian early-career visual artist based on Savary Island BC. As a figurative painter, she uses photography and oil paint to explore questions she has yet to fully express, creating visual stories around identity, connection, and perspectives of femininity. Selbee-Baker completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and photography from Thompson Rivers University in 2006, and has since continually taken classes and participated in opportunities to learn and grow her artistic practise.
Her work has been shown through solo exhibitions in Kamloops, Savary Island, Clearwater and Chicago IL, as well as group exhibitions in Sechelt, Kamloops, Powell River and Vancouver, BC. Additionally she has participated in virtual exhibitions sharing her work internationally. Selbee-Baker’s work has been reviewed in Artist Talk Magazine, Suboart Magazine, and Art Seen Magazine, she has also been featured on CBC Radio’s North by Northwest and awarded a residency with Atelier Artist in Residence for 2025. Since 2020, she has been an active member of the Thrive Together Network, an international collective fostering community over competition.
Selbee-Baker lives along the inspiring shores of the West Coast on a remote off-grid island, creating a smaller, intentional life. Through bold colours, portraits, and landscapes, her expressive work invites viewers to embark on a journey of discovery, sparking curiosity about the subject's story and fostering deeper connections with the artwork. Driven by an authentic sense of curiosity, her new work examines how generational influences shape women’s identities, particularly the tension between societal expectations and personal authenticity.

Casual creator, experimenting with new things and weaving art into daily life whenever/wherever possible. Tinkering with different mediums, enjoying making something new of something discarded so my pieces will often incorporate thrifted materials.
