Each month the Kamloops Arts Council profiles a different member or donor, so that you can get to know the diverse and talented community that makes up the KAC. This month we feature Helga Lloyd.
How long have you been involved with the Kamloops Arts Council? Since 2003.
Why did you get involved? Because I am an artist, and I was involved in the arts council in Ladner before I moved to Kamloops.
Tell us about your artwork: Mostly acrylic paintings – landscapes, buildings, and doors etc. I travel a lot and enjoy taking pictures for when I come home to paint them.
What are you looking forward to this upcoming year? A special show or project you’re working on? Nothing upcoming this year, but in the past I displayed at the Cunliffe House with the Kamloops Arts Council, as well as the Wilson House Gallery and the Main Gallery. I love art and enjoy painting for the sake of painting.
What would you say to someone who’s considering becoming a member with the Kamloops Arts Council? The Arts Council has helped me promote my work and receive excellent exposure. So go for it.
