CAF Performer Application 2023

The Children’s Arts Festival is back and better than ever! On Saturday, September 16th, the Kamloops Arts Council will be hosting a fun-filled day of artistic performances and engaging activities in Riverside Park.

If you are interested in being part of the festivities, complete the application below. Please note that all applications will go through a selection process. The performers chosen are dependent upon the number of submissions received in addition to the variety and quality of performances. Thank you for your interest in sharing your time and talents; it’s going to be a wonderful event!

SCHEDULE & NOTES
When: September 16, 2023
Where: Riverside Park (East End)
Set Up: Arrival/Set up time will be confirmed upon finalization of the performer schedule
Duration of the Festival: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

You are not required to be present for the full duration of the event but are welcome to join in the festivities and connect with members of our community.

Performer Commitment

To provide a free, fun, and family-friendly performance for the Children’s Arts Festival 2022. These can be interactive, educational, whimsical, etc. Commitment to the dates and times you are applying for is very important. If you are sick, will be late, or need to withdraw, please contact Tiana Aguiluz at [email protected]

Please note that applications will go through a selection process. The organizations/businesses chosen are dependent upon the number of submissions received in addition to the variety and quality of performances.

Theme: Ranches and Rodeos
Though not mandatory, we encourage you to plan around our theme, Ranches and Rodeos. We are all about being friends of the earth with a focus on being eco-friendly. Community farms help secure farmland and build local food systems for ongoing food production. You are welcome to have fun with your own dress on the day! All performances must be provided free of charge for the children of our community.

Payment
An honorarium is to be discussed, and agreed to, upon length of performance at the time of booking. Cheques will be available within 6 weeks after the event; We will contact you with any delays. They can be mailed to you or picked up at the Old Courthouse.

Supplies and Equipment
Please bring your own technical equipment if possible as our equipment supply is limited. To be discussed.

Covid-19 Response
The Kamloops Arts Council cannot guarantee that all activities, performances, etc., will be possible under future Covid-19 regulations.

Please note, as prepared and preventative as we try to be, there remains the possibility that the Children’s Arts Festival may be cancelled under Public Health Orders. This is the worst-case scenario but is entirely possible. In the case of a cancellation, honorariums may not be given. All payment will be received after the completion of the Children’s Arts Festival.

Criminal Record Check
For Children’s Arts Festival, you are required to complete a vulnerable sector criminal record check as we will be working with children. As you are not employed by the KAC, you will complete a volunteer criminal record check and payment is not required. After you apply, you will be given a letter that can be taken to your nearest RCMP detachment for a request.

The Kamloops Arts Council office and KAC Main Gallery are located in the city-owned Old Courthouse Cultural Centre at 7 Seymour Street West. We share this wonderful century-old building with the Courthouse Gallery Cooperative and Theatre BC (Mainstage).
