Crossing Bridges Outreach Videos

As part of our Arts & Health initiative KAC launches the Access Online Arts virtual workshops to allow participation in hands-on arts from a safe space and in a safe way. These workshops are a bridge to future and virtual programming and may be used as a resource by other artists and agencies. Meet Mike Alexander and Laura Bittante as they show us a window into their art and their creative process.

Mike’s Woodlands Art and the Seven Grandfather Teachings is a series of short online videos in which Anishinaabe artist Mike Alexander invites participants to join him in drawing animals that symbolize the Ojibway Seven Sacred Teachings. These workshops invite participants to self-reflect on their artistic process while learning about First Nations culture.

Laura shows there are no limits for what you can make with paper! In this 30 minute video Laura shares, from start to finish, how she creates one of her 3D paper illustrations within a shadow box frame.

We believe the arts are for everyone, and that they have the power to heal, transform, connect, and develop skills in children, youth, adults, and seniors, including those in crisis. Art changes lives.
