Artist Statement:
I want my art to evoke a feeling or memory in the viewer… a connection through shared emotions. Whether I am doing a figurative or abstract piece, textures appeal to me. I can get lost in exploring ways to build it with colour, layers, or tools. I also like building paintings that appeal from a distance but, are full of little surprise marks up close.
About the artist:
Parm Armstrong is a self-taught artist who has been painting for the past five years. In her thirty-five years as an educator, Parm has been a strong advocate for the arts and has always tried to instill the importance of the arts in children’s lives. In retirement, she is indulging her love of visual art by exploring texture, colour, and styles in figurative and abstract art.
Parm’s show will be exhibited in the alcove and vault galleries from September 16th to October 15th, 2022.
