Meet the Art Exposed 2023 Jurors!

Art Exposed 2023 Jurors Announced!

The Kamloops Arts Council has selected three BC jurors for the upcoming regional exhibit.

Thompson Nicola Regional District — The 13th Annual Art Exposed Exhibit is coming to the Old Courthouse March 3rd – 12th. The exhibit hosts emerging, established, and youth artists and is juried by three talented and accomplished artists. This year the art will be judged, awarded, and critiqued by painter Janice Beaudoin, interdisciplinary artist Finn Modder, and photographer Dave Snider.

Janice Beaudoin

Janice is new to the Kamloops art community. With creative-driven careers in media and more recently interior design, Janice took a deep dive into contemporary art about ten years ago and never looked back.

Largely self-taught as a painter, her years in applied arts taught her the importance of value and the visual power of line, form, colour and composition. These design fundamentals have naturally informed her work as an abstract artist. She has fine art training from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She has participated in workshops and mentorships with artist educators including Jenny Nelson, Nicholas Wilton and Janice Mason Steeves.

Janice works primarily in oils but often experiments with collage and other mixed media elements. She states that “she is a curious artist and art invites her to break the rules, make discoveries and get lost in the creative process.” Her work is influenced by great artists such as Richard Diebenkorn, Joan Mitchell, Philip Guston, and Amy Sillman and in her own way she attempts to synthesize those influences and listen to her own creative voice.

Janice’s work has been exhibited and collected throughout Canada, the U.S., Europe and the UK. She has participated as a juror on North Vancouver public art selection panels as well as for community art exhibitions. She looks forward to taking in all the work submitted to the Art Exposed Exhibit.

Janice and her husband relocated from North Vancouver to Kamloops in the fall of 2022. She works from her home studio in Aberdeen.

Finn Modder

Finn Modder is a Canadian Sri Lankan interdisciplinary artist. Born in Canada, she grew up in France and the Bahamas. Finn studied art history at the University of Victoria and obtained her BFA at Thompson Rivers University.

She has exhibited work nationally and internationally, in Victoria, Vancouver, and France. She’s worked and exhibited in the Kamloops art community for more than 10 years. Art Education, community engagement and public programming have been her most recent professional focus. She is presently taking time to prioritize her own art practice and currently works out of her studio in downtown Kamloops.
