Emily-May Olson
Full Name: Emily-May Olson
Medium: Photography
How long have you been doing your art: 8 years!
What got you originally interested in the art you do: I have always loved taking photos. In my last year of high-school I started working at a photo lab in Fort St. John and bought my first DSLR camera. When I moved to Kamloops photography became a way to make friends and meet new people while making a little bit of income and having fun.
What is something you have learned about yourself through your art: I will always push myself to learn new things to create the best possible product for myself and for my clients.
What do you enjoy the most about your art: I love connecting with people and being able to show them how the world sees them. My favourite thing is when someone says “is that really how beautiful I am?” Heck yes it is!
What is your favorite joke/quote: “Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but doesn’t get you anywhere.”
What do you think makes art important: Art is in everything.
Why are you a member of the Kamloops Arts Council: The KAC is a wonderful program in Kamloops! I love how they support artists in the community and I’m happy to support them back.
What are you looking forward to the most in this upcoming year: This year I am excited to continue growing my business and plan new and exciting sessions for my clients!
