Tim Francis

Full Name: Tim Francis

Medium: Painting, Acrylic.

How long have you been doing your art: I’ve been doing art almost my entire life because my mother was also an artist, (dorothyfrancis.ca) and because drawing came naturally to me. I started painting seriously when I was twenty years old, so that makes fifty years of painting in acrylics!

What do you enjoy the most about your art: I do my art because it makes me whole and I don’t feel complete when I neglect it.

If you could teach everyone one art medium or method, what would it be, why:

My advice to young artists would be, like in the words of Nike, just do it. I find that waiting for inspiration is not conducive to creating, rather, creating is conducive to inspiration, which leads me to a favourite quote…

What is your favorite joke/quoteCreativity doesn’t wait for the perfect moment.

Why are you a member of the Kamloops Arts Council: I’m a member of the KAC because it is a well run, active supporter of the arts in the region and art is a crucial to our overall quality of life. The KAC also provides space to showcase every level and discipline of visual art. Hopefully, when The Plague is no longer upon us, we can get back to actively pursuing a performing arts centre for Kamloops too

What are you looking forward to the most in this upcoming year: I’m looking forward to continuing to interpret this beautiful area in my paintings, to my upcoming show at The Vic, to donating some money to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation through the auction of one of my works and to selling some recently published books of my work.
