Chelsea Dawn Patenaude
Full Name: Chelsea Dawn Patenaude
Medium: Macrame
How long have you been doing your art: For the past three years
What got you originally interested in the art you do: All good things come around again and I started to see it frequently on social media and thought I’d like to make something like that for my home.
What is something you have learned about yourself through your art: While I’ve dabbled in many art forms, this one gives me the most pleasure. Having people like my work is an extremely rewarding feeling.
What do you enjoy the most about your art: Macrame is very therapeutic! The rhythmic motions of the hands and being one with your thoughts has helped me de stress.
What is your favourite joke/quote: My favourite quote that I live by is,” everything happens for a reason, whether you know it at the time or not.”
What is something most people don’t know about you: I grew up highland dancing and it allowed me to travel to many places including Scotland.
If you could teach everyone one art medium or method, what would it be, why: I would teach macrame for obvious reasons, because I love it and anyone can do it. Another reason being that everyone can benefit from learning basic knots. It could save your life one day.
Why are you a member of the Kamloops Arts Council: I became a member to gain access to the Kamloops farmers market. I never expected there to be such a vas community of like minded people. There is so much talent in this city!
What are you looking forward to the most in this upcoming year (A special show or project you’re working on): Hopefully some Christmas craft fairs.
You can also find Chelsea’s pieces at the Kamloops Artisan Bazaar. 705 Victoria st.
