Full Name: Linda Scarfo

Medium: Acrylic painting

How long have you been doing your art: I have been working steadily and seriously since 2014 but took classes and workshops for many years before that.

What got you originally interested in the art you do: I really wanted a creative outlet – my work is as a bookkeeper and income tax preparer – so I need the change!

What is something you have learned about yourself through your art: I have found that I am sometimes too much of a perfectionist and need to try to paint in a more relaxed way and strive to create an atmosphere as well as an image.

What do you enjoy the most about your art: I love to watch the painting develop and come to life, especially when painting wildlife.

What is something most people don’t know about you: My family and I used to ride our horses in the PNE parade for several years in the late ’50s and early ’60s.

What do you think makes art important: It is a personal expression – even when a group is painting the same scene, all the paintings come out different.

Why are you a member of the Kamloops Arts Council: The Arts Council provides important support to all of us in the arts community, in all types of expression.

What are you looking forward to the most in this upcoming year (A special show or project you’re working on): I hope to be able to book another personal show at the Old Courthouse, or perhaps share a show with another painter.
